Earth System Modeling Group

The Earth System Modeling (EaSM) group is located near the University of Maryland-College Park at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center (ESSIC). EaSM was started by Professor Xin-Zhong Liang as the development team for the CWRF regional climate model. The members of EaSM are active in maintaining and improving CWRF, developing climate model parameterizations, and advancing the understanding of regional climate and climate change. Since its founding the scope of EaSM’s mission has expanded to include the development of climate service tools, and it is at the forefront of research on the intersection of regional climate, economics, agriculture, and air quality.
